“We have met the enemy, and they are ours” – Oliver Hazard Perry. This is a famous quote that is often used to capture the sentiment of self-inflicted wounds. Today’s technology companies are structured to optimize the success of a legacy business model – make a product, sell a product, ship a product, install a product, support a product. Rinse and repeat. This model works for a product-led company. However, the era of subscription services is undeniable – and the legacy model does not work for service-led, subscription-based offerings. Technology companies love their silos. Product silos, services silos, business unit silos, geo-based silos. You get the picture. Subscription services require a different model where all products and services are aligned and orchestrated to deliver value for the customer as efficiently (and profitably) as possible. In this panel session (or discussion), TSIA will discuss examples of how some companies have successfully stopped the silos, and optimized the joint venture across organizations to deliver the right outcomes, to the right customer, at the right time.
